Licensed Real Estate Professional, Marketing Director
For James Blasingame, after a 25-year career with St. Louis advertising and sales promotion firms, joining the Blasingame Group felt like coming home. James’ father John founded the firm in 1981, and James had his Illinois real estate license at age 21. However, during a college internship with Winchester Ammunition, he had the opportunity to work directly with the brand’s advertising and sales promotion agencies, and he fell in love with the advertising business.
“I really enjoyed the creativity of the ad industry,” James says. “And I had the opportunity to work with some very talented people on projects for a number of big brands.”
James’ marketing experience includes branding and promotional assignments for clients like Comcast, Rawlings Sporting Goods, Southwestern Bell, several Anheuser-Busch beer brands, and many other St. Louis-area companies, including RASI, the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.
In 2015 James co-authored a book with a former advertising client. John Shuchart, an entrepreneur and former chief marketing officer, endured decades of emotional abuse from his parents, an addiction to prescription painkillers, and a planned suicide attempt before getting treatment for his depression.
The book, “You’re Not the Brightest of My Four Sons” and Other Depressing Things That Have Been Said to Me. tells Shuchart’s story and describes how he uses humor to reframe the traumatic events that can trigger his depression. James titled and branded the book, and handled marketing for the project, securing regional and national speaking engagements for John, as well as television and radio appearances to promote the book and The Shuchart Foundation mission: to fight the stigma associated with mental illness.
Now, James has returned to his roots. He puts his creativity and marketing expertise to work for The Blasingame Group clients, generating more visibility and buyer leads for the company’s listings – and securing the right home for clients.
“I’m proud to work with a great team that Jeb and Ginger have assembled,” he says. “And I look forward to helping The Blasingame Group continue to grow.”
